Yes.  They are done.  It's 10PM here in Texas and way too late to start uploading them tonight.  By the time I got done uploading the videos updating all the webpages it would be 10AM tomorrow(I would be a little loopy).  I'm going to start the uploading/updating process tomorrow morning.  The videos will be uploaded and ready to watch online by the afternoon and updating the webpages will probably take us well into tomorrow night. 

I received a few email today about some of the parts in the lists being unavailable.  Sure enough lots of the video cards and monitors weren't available for purchase.  I went in and updated the lists, including updating the pricing of all of the parts.   Memory and video card prices went up about $20 on average from the last update of the list a month and a half ago.

The 2010 videos are very close to being finished.  I'm going to shoot the new socket AM3 and 1156 video today.  Once that's edited together I'll upload all the 2010 videos to the site.  It shouldn't take more than two days. 

It seems to be working on my end. Anyone else having a problem with Section 4 Lesson 3 of the networking videos?

Been having a great time watching and learning from the videos posted here, but the L-3 Notebook vid does not seem to be functioning? Any Suggestions?

Everything is recorded with the exception of the Socket 1156 and AM3 sections of Installation Lesson 2.  Right now we're working on editing together Lesson 7 and 8 of the Internal Component Lessons.  All of the other Component Lessons are finished.  Next we will edit together the new Windows 7 installation and drivers installation videos.  We're dropping the Windows XP videos from the DVD and will put them online for free.  We will then record and edit together the Socket 1156 and AM3 video which shouldn't take more than a few days.

I'm confident the videos will be online in a few weeks and we will allow a pre-purchase of the DVDs which will be ready to ship a few weeks after that. 

Core i5 and i7 Overclocking Video Lesson 5 - OC to 3.7GHz

This is the final video in the series and shows how to overclock any Core i5 or i7 CPU up to 4GHz.  Technically our CPU didn't make it all the way there but the method is sound.  We also overclocked the memory from 1333MHz to 1483MHz.  

If you have 1600MHz RAM you're covered as well.  This video took a little longer to make than I anticipated.  It also runs about 10 minutes long than I expected.

Tomorrow we are getting back to work on the 2010 Home PC Builder videos.  They are about half done and I expect them to be finished around mid February.

Yes it is all written but my voice is not cooperating at the moment. I've had a cold for the last three days and I sound worse than usual :) I should have my voice back and Lesson 5 online by Friday.

The CPU is stable at 3.9GHz, but to get to 4GHz I had to max out the CPU Voltage to 1.4v and even with the new cooler the temperatures went over 100c. The CPU's safety kicked in and lowered the multiplier.  It would take a water cooler to get this CPU to 4GHz.  I don' t think the expense and trouble would be worth it for .1GHz.  

The Core i7 920 I have is one of the first, with Stepping 5, Revision C0/C1.  The more recent D0 stepping version of the Core i7 overclocks a little easier.  They came out around April of 09, so you may have that one and 4GHz won't be any problem for you.  I go over Steppings and Revisions in the video.  The Core i5 which is based on the more recent version of the Core i7 overclocks a little easier as well.

I'm taking all my medicine and drinking plenty of water.  I just wish I could taste my food.

Core i5 and i7 Overclocking Video Lesson 4 - OC to 3.7GHz

This video shows step by step how to overclock the Core i7 from 3.3GHz all the way up to 3.7GHz.  The process works for all Core i5 and i7 CPUs.  

At 3.7GHz the system became unstable so we used voltage increases to stabilize the overclock.  We also show some moderate RAM overclocking.

I will start shooting Lesson 5 tomorrow.  First things is to install the Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro Rev .2 CPU cooler.  The video will show installing it step-by-step, as usual.  Once its installed we'll compare it's cooling abilities, to the stock cooler.  This should bring the CPU temperature down, low enough to allow us to overclock the CPU to 3.8GHz and perhaps 3.9GHz, or even 4.0GHz.
